Review of Stolen Good
Released in 2002, Stolen Good is the debut film by Russ Jaquith, Natasha Sarris. The plot as seen on imdb seems overly complex but in reality is as thin as rice paper.
The films plot (I am being generous here!) is Sean, an ex pro rider, decides to kickstart his career by producing his own video. He persuades his two lifelong buddies to go with him.
With the three of of them carrying their own emotional baggage, they all have their own internal journeys to contend with. To fund there adventure they freeload and steal cars for an ends to a means.
There is also a whimsical love story where one of the characters leaves his local town sweetheart behind. Heartbroken and confused, she gets entwined in a twisted plan for revenge and humiliation against her would-be boyfriend.
Best bad snowboarding movie ever?
The acting is so bad it is laughable. Probably the worst acting I have seen outside of a Aussie soap. You could easily be mistaken that the acting is a deliberate satire stab at the snowboard film genre – but that would be too clever!
The satire feel continues with the camera work. Bad lighting, out of focus camera shots and unnecessary close-ups that would not look out of place in a school media studies project.
The snowboarding action certainly goes a long way in making this the best bad snowboarding movie of all time. It is sparse and samey, with dozens of shots of the same jump. Most of which the riders hardly seem to land!
Stolen Good is as awful as it is compelling. Is this the best bad snowboarding movie ever? Do you know of any other films that could have this title? Please let us know in the comments below.
