Tarifa is located on the southern tip of Spain and still retains all its small town charm. There are comparatively few beach-going tourists, which means the big sandy beaches are often empty and perfect for kitesurfing. And with Dragon offering everything from individual to group tuition, equipment hire and fully qualified instructors, if you learn to kitesurf in Tarifa it should tick all the boxes.

Beginners can learn the basics and more advanced riders can build on their skills and even try surf riding and wave handling lessons for the first time.

The Intensive course lasts three days and is great for developing skills and the Advanced and Expert courses help to build confidence and get you to the next step, including wave riding.

Why learn to kitesurf in Tarifa?

Over the last couple of decades Tarifa has been transformed from sleepy seaside village to international kitesurfing Mecca. Too windy to be considered a true beach resort, its vast sandy beaches, reliable winds and sunny conditions were practically designed for kitesurfing.

This is the place where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea, and it’s all protected by national park, so there aren’t any big holiday resorts.

The beautiful beaches of Los Lances, Valdevaqueros and Punto Paloma are all backdropped by the incredible scenery of Andalusia. And across the water you can marvel at the amazing mountain backdrop of Morocco. Dragon even offer some surf breaks across the Med if you’re in the mood for Africa too.

The perfect conditions and absence of too many holidaymakers and swimmers means this is one of the best spots in the world to kitesurf. With expert tuition from Dragon Kite School and all your accommodation sorted in advance, you couldn’t really ask for more.
