There’s a chance to check out the unique city life and get settled into the hotel before a pre-trip meal and drinks. After a good night’s sleep it’s straight into the fun. Travel over stunning mountain passes on the way to the first camp on the bank of the Trisuli River.

Based at a picturesque riverside camp for the first few days you can work on the basics, from forward paddling technique to having a go at the Eskimo roll. The view from the bamboo hut accommodation as the sun rises over the river creates the vibe. Spend some time looking at river safety and rescue, and learn about how to approach rapids. Discover about picking lines and what to look out for on the river as you’re introduced to some gentle white water just a short drive from camp. For those with experience you can work on existing skills and river reading.

After a hearty breakfast, hit the road again for the first of two multi-day river trips in the heart of the Himalayas. Warm water rivers wind through rain forests with a stunning back drops of snow-capped mountains.

On the multi-day trips, gear rafts accompany the kayaks down the river, carrying all the essentials – camping kit, food and cooking equipment, bags, beer and wine (yes, wine). In the evening, pull the kayaks and rafts onto pristine white sandy beaches and set up camp, light a campfire, and kick back with a cold drink as the guides cook up a mix of western and local cuisine. Perfect for refuelling after a fun day putting new skills to the test on the river. It’s not unusual for local villagers to come join the groups on the beach, singing and dancing and enjoying the company of the passing strangers.

Each day that you progress downstream, enjoy the breath-taking scenery, ever-changing as the river meanders through the different landscapes. Stop to look at the more challenging rapids, giving you a chance to look and discuss how to tackle them. Or jump on a raft and float down whilst the more advanced kayakers in the group run the bigger rapids pushing their own skill and experience.

An unforgettable adventure holiday

The multi-day river trips are what Nepal Kayak School is all about – creating an unforgettable adventure holiday. Float down the river absorbed in amazing surroundings and scenery. Enjoy warm evenings sat round a camp fire with good food and friends. Between the river trips, head to the picturesque city of Pokhara for a day or two to re-change your batteries and take in a different part of this incredible country.

Perched on the shores of Lake Fewa and at the foot of the Annapurna mountains Pokhara is Nepal’s second largest city and offers a multitude of restaurants, shops and activities. Many travellers base themselves here before trekking adventures into the Annapurna Mountain Range. Many of whom you’ll meet and share a story or two with over a beer in the evening. On a day off many people chose to take advantage of the location for a once in a life time opportunity to paraglide from the hills above Pokhara, soaring on the thermals with eagles and viewing the country and snow-capped peaks from a new perspective.

Finish your Nepal Kayak School trip with an early start to watch the sun rise over the Annapurna mountains. The warm glow of the sun’s rays lighting up the 8,000m snow-capped peaks before rising high into the sky for another warm day in paradise. Head to the river for a final few days, putting the previous experiences together to hit the rapids or simply sit back and absorb the surroundings.

The team will float to the end of the river before heading back to Kathmandu for a celebratory group meal and drinks. Plus there’s a chance for last minute shopping and presents before your journey home or on to more adventures around the world.
