A week of self-guided moderate-level mountain biking on natural trails through unspoiled landscapes of southern Spain, through three Andalucian provinces (Malaga, Seville and Cadiz). Plus optional guided MTB ride on final day, from the mountains down to the Mediterranean Sea., dusty trails twist through mountain terrain, including one National Park and one Natural Park. Some technical sections and a mix of single-track, double-track and some connecting sections of quiet or unsurfaced roads; plenty of hill climbs and descents. Overnight in quaint white villages with plenty of time to try out delicious local food, wine and beer.
8-Day MTB Tour in White Villages of Andalucia, Spain: Itinerary
Arrival Day - Enjoy the sights and sounds of Ronda
Biking Day 1 - Ronda to Olvera 45km +555m Small trails through olive groves and holm oak forest make a relatively easy start to the week. Ride to the cavehouse village of Setenil de las Bodegas for lunch and then continue through undulating countryside to Olvera.
Biking Day 2 - Olvera to Montellano 44km +800m Miles of rolling hills and trails which weave and climb through remote countryside.
Biking Day 3 - Montellano to El Bosque 50km +600m Farmland, fields and quiet pathways, with a central hill-climb to lunch. A fun descent leads via Roman salt pans to your overnight stop, a sleepy Andalucian village surrounded by dramatic limestone mountains.
Biking Day 4 - El Bosque to Montecorto 41km +825m Head into the forests and mountains of the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park. Lunch in the hilltop village of Zahara de la Sierra before an undulating ride along the side of Zahara lake.
Biking Day 5 - Montecorto to Ronda 45km +1170m A climb into the hills and through cork oak forest before riding through the heart of the Grazalema Natural Park on a mix of singletrack and doubletrack trails. Lunch stop in the hidden white village of Montejaque before the 'zigzag path' leads up to views of Ronda again. A final fast descent and then climb back up into Ronda.
Optional Biking Day 6 - guided 'Mountains to the Med' 40km +725m Minibus transfer to the Sierra de las Nieves National Park, for a fun ride including 30km descent from the mountains down to dip your toes in the Mediterranean Sea.
