Day 1: Johannesburg to Panorama route
'No sympathy for the city as we leave it behind, making way for wide open spaces and and exciting adventure, nature, adrenalin and safari opportunities...'
A 2,5 hour road trip brings you to the back of the escarpment, a series of dramatic mountain, cliff, gorge, river and rock features and phenomena. The next 6-7 hours is spent exploring and experiencing a selection of thrill-ride tobogganing, descending into the abyss in a gorge lift (+ the rain forest at the bottom), gorge swing/zipline (optional extra), waterfalls, curious water current formed potholes and quaint touristy towns along the way. This is the Mpumalanga escarpment and Blyde River Canyon at its awe inspiring best !
At the end of an active day, the night is spent in the heart of the Panorama route, close to where cliffs-meet lowveld, in a quality, comfortable 3-star hotel/resort on Bed and breakfast basis.
Day 2: Highveld to Lowveld for Safari
Leaving highveld (highlands) behind, a scenic road descent down the escarpment brings us to the Lowveld...and safari country!
Once arrived in the lowveld, the tour offers leisure time while those opting for the 1-hour Elephant Interaction go enjoy this fascinating programme. Later, once settled in, a 4x4 safari truck awaits to go do...YES, the anticipated safari in the Kruger Park! Expect close encounters galore with wildlife photo opportunities to your heart's content. In the late afternoon/early evening, return to the lodge to enjoy leisure time and a dinner to suit everyone's taste and preference.
Overnight at Nkambeni Safari Camp (or similar) on Dinner, Bed and breakfast basis.
Day 3: Kruger Park to Johannesburg including escarpment hike

The agenda starts with a hearty breakfast in anticipation of your Safari walk. It's mind-blowing how little we know about animal signs/spoor (tracks) and sounds, grass, trees, insects and....the Small5!
Later, depart for a 2nd delightful visit to the Panorama route and Mpumalanga escarpment. Fall in love with quaint towns, a peculiar rock 'field' and awe-inspiring vistas and, if you're lucky, you're visiting in Aloe flowering season as these succulents with their red-hot poker flowers are curiously photogenic and a delight to watch.
