This Slovenia mountain biking holiday is for lovers of fresh alpine air, picturesque scenery and sweeping vistas. Join our National Park Ring MTB tour!
This is a Slovenia mountain biking holiday in the sense of landscape rather than cycling terrain. Most roads are asphalt. However, quite a few of the side trips are on unpaved surfaces and forest tracks. Starting and ending at the fairytale setting of Lake Bled, it takes you on a circular route through Slovenia’s alpine northwest, packed with views of the soaring peaks, glistening lakes and verdant valleys of Triglav National Park and the Julian Alps. Suitable for MTB bikers with a good level of fitness.
National Park Ring MTB tour highlights:
• swim in crystal clear lakes & canyon streams
• rafting, paragliding & more in Bovec
• ride through summery alpine meadows
• cycle 1611m up over the Vrsic mountain pass
• ride through gorgeous alpine valleys
• stay in small independent hotels, great food

Day 2: BLED – RIBČEV LAZ (Bohinj Lake) (42 km, elevation gain 950 m).
Uphill to Pokljuka high plateau. From there you cycle descending down to the Bohinj valley, place of unique beauty of nature and tiny villages in Alpine valley. (5* hotel with spa center).
We liked: a snack in the local pub.
Day 3: BOHINJ – TOLMIN (56 km, elevation gain 1300 m).
Biking a valley route, some hilly sections, goes partly by train through 6-km tunnel. (3* hotel).

Cycling along the Soca River only. Slowly climbing. (3* hotel).
We liked: wider area of WWI fighting of the Isonzo front: different monuments of the era. Museum of WW1 in Kobarid is definitively worth visiting. Bovec is the adrenaline capital of Slovenia – enjoy white water rafting, canyoning, bungee jumping…
Day 5: BOVEC a rest day (3* hotel).
