Ride through Slovenia’s scenic mountaintop trails on this 7-day mountain biking adventure.
Enjoy a Slovenia Mountain Biking Holiday: MTB bike trails tour
Mountain biking is a great way to take in all Slovenia has to offer, as it is known for its long stretches of unspoilt nature and picturesque scenery. From sunny towns with beautiful lakes and strong cultural roots. This trip has a strong focus on experiencing the mountain bike trails found in various locations across the country.
Our mountain biking trips are run in groups of 6-8 people so that we can focus on both the group and the individual, so you can benefit from peer learning and shared experiences whilst still keeping the focus on you. This trip will also have course elements to expand your skills, allowing you to leave your time with us with improved bike control, confidence, and invigorated enthusiasm for mountain biking.
We pride ourselves on providing a fully immersive and cultural experience to those who join us on our expedition holidays. We provide all mountain bike guides, accommodation, meals, and transport (excluding flights) so that after a long day on the trails you can relax, unwind, take in all the breathtaking views and leave all the arrangements to us.
All our trips are bespoke and tailored to each specific group that travels with us, therefore, anyone of any skill level can join us on this adventure. Many of the trails have something for everyone. We will always discuss beforehand how far everyone is willing to go and make changes accordingly, ensuring everyone is satisfied and routes are appropriately matched for your level of ability.
We believe that cycling trips are best spent on your own bike. We have access to discounted bike rentals (not included in the price), but we can also help you get your own equipment over to Slovenia. You can easily pay to fly with your bike through most airlines such as British Airways, easyJet and Wizz Air.
If you are coming as a group we can transport your equipment in our fully insured van all the way to Slovenia and back, to a designated point. Book with us in a group of 8 to get this service completely free of charge!
Alongside your bike, you will need:
A helmet
A suitable amount of riding clothes to last you the whole week (we can help with washing but cannot promise this)
Good strong shoes
Repair kits
Specific tools you may need (we will have an array of tools available but we still recommend bringing trackside tools)
A rucksack to carry the essentials
A water bottle
Waterproof clothing
Slovenia Mountain Biking Holiday: Itinerary
Day 1: Once you have arrived in Slovenia, we will meet at the airport and transfer to our accommodation. However, those that chose different means of travel, e.g. driving, will meet up with the group at the hotel. Once the group is together we will meet, greet, and then head out for a traditional Slovene meal. This provides a great opportunity for everyone to get to know each other, discuss the coming week, and enjoy some great food.
In the afternoon, we will build up our bikes, sort out our kit, and discuss the different areas/routes we are going to tackle. If there is time we will jump on our bikes and blast off the cobwebs so we are all ready for what this adventure is going to bring.
Day 2: Today we will be heading over to Petzen Ski Resort which is situated on the border between Slovenia and Austria. This resort is home to the Flow Country Trail, one of the longest flow trails in Europe with a length of ~11km. Throughout this trail you can take in the scenic views of the mountains, biking through tables, ridges, and steep curves.
After a few laps, we will take in some more of the smaller trails before heading back for a swim in the local area.
Day 3: On this day we will head to Golte Ski Resort and take the gondola to the top of the mountain and hit the trails for a full day of riding. There is also a bike park here we will visit with beginner, intermediate, and expert tracks.
Day 4: After breakfast we will be taking the shuttle over to the Phorije region, making our way towards Rogla ski resort. We are excited to share this special area with you and take you on some great trails. There is some great scenery to experience throughout, such as nature reserves, waterfalls, rainforests, farms, historical churches, and more. There are 3 routes available, which are all circular. This means that we can all finish up at the ski resort and meet up for some food and a drink.
Day 5: In the morning, we will take a short drive over to the Savinjska valley. There are many routes here that will test people of all levels of ability, some of which are nestled in the Logar Valley. The Logar Valley is world-famous and is home to some of the most picturesque views in all of Europe. After our ride, depending on the day and everyone's mood, we will either visit a local mountain hut for lunch or pack up for the day.
Day 6: Today we will be heading back to Savinjska for another day along the trails. In the late afternoon, we will make our way over to Lake Velenje to swim, cool off, and enjoy some drinks/ice cream at the local swim spot. This lake is one of the largest and most popular attractions in Velenje and was naturally formed as a result of mining in the town.
Day 7: After leaving the area we have stayed in for most of the week, we will be making our way to the capital city of Ljubljana. Most people would not expect to travel towards a capital city along some amazing trails, but this is Slovenia and as a country, it never fails to provide! Riding through trails from the outskirts of the city we will make our way to the city centre.
Day 8: All good things must come to an end. Depending on flight times, we shall have a final breakfast together, and go for some sightseeing before transfers to the airport where we must say our final goodbyes.
