The accommodation is based on a 3 * star pension in the traditional Zdiar village known for its authentic wooden houses and folklore. The exact accommodation will be confirmed after the booking is made. The pensions in Zdiar village are cosy, family run and rustic. Accommodation will be provided in DBL rooms with bathroom on half board basis. The idyllic Zdiar village is situated under the peaks of the Eastern (White) Tatras and offers amazing views and an unforgettable experience which takes you back in time.

Day to day plan for this Slovakia active photography holiday in the Tatra Mountains:
DAY 1
Ždiar
Arrival to Zdiar, in the afternoon or evening guests will meet with a local representative who will explain the specifics of the program and the region.
DAY 2
Ždiar – Bachledka Treetop Walkway - 1st photo lesson
Today is dedicated to getting to know Zdiar village. Walk around the village after breakfast, enjoy the views and take in the atmosphere. Walk to Bachledova Valley, take the cable car and visit the ‘Bachledka Treetop Walkway’. You will be rewarded by breathtaking views and the feeling of floating just over the tree tops. In the late afternoon meet-up with a photo expert/guide who will show you some tricks and teach you how to take the best photos.
DAY 3 of Slovakia active photography holiday in the Tatra Mountains
Ždiar
Get in Focus. Today is dedicated to trying to take the best possible photos of the surrounding nature and the authentic traditional wooden houses in Zdiar village. You may visit the Zdiarsky dom museum and the Stone Gallery. In the afternoon you will experience a horse carriage ride and a sausage BBQ in the forest.
DAY 4
Sunrise photo lesson – Belianska cave – Hiking to Plesnivec hut
Meeting with the photo expert/guide before sunrise, taking photos together in Zdiar. The photo expert will take you to Tatranska Kotlina by car and you will continue learning to take quality photos. You will have time to visit the famous Belianska cave, before hiking to Plesnivec hut and back to Zdiar.
DAY 5
Pieniny National Park guided trip
An English speaking guide will pick you up by car and drive you to Pieniny National Park. On the way you will have a short stop in the small historic medieval town Kezmarok. After arriving to Pieniny National Park you will start your river-based experience on traditional wooden rafts on the Dunajec River which forms a natural border between Slovakia and Poland. After arriving to Lesnica you will enjoy a traditional lunch and continue to Lubovniansky Castle and open air museum. (The program/ itinerary, entrance fees, guide, transportation and lunch are all included in the overall price)
DAY 6
High Tatras: Starý Smokovec – Hrebienok – Zamkovského Hut – Skalnaté Pleso- Tatranská Lomnica
Take the local bus from Zdiar to Stary Smokovec (High Tatras). Walk to the station of the cable car and take the ride to Hrebienok, a famous starting point of many hiking trails. Follow the green sign to the cascading Cold Creek waterfalls where you can take some excellent photos. Continue to a forest glade (cca 20 minutes from the waterfalls) “Starolesnianska Polana” where the oldest mountain hut of the High Tatras – the Rainer´s Hut can be found. Follow the red sign and hike about 90 minutes on the most popular hiking trail of the Tatras to Skalnate Pleso mountain tarn/lake. A few minutes before reaching Skalnate Pleso mountain tarn we advise to have a break at Skalnata Hut – a typical mountain hut found along the way. Some of the mountain huts in the High Tatras are run by “sherpas”. The original cottager of the Skalnata Hut won the “sherpas´contest” by carriing 207.5 kg to the cottage from the vally floor. The photo/ certificate is displayed at the cottage.
Skalnate Pleso (mountain tarn) is the place where the iconic red cable car to Lomnicky Peak (Slovakia´s second highest peak) starts from. Walk around the tarn, visit the observatory, and simply keep focus your lens and take some wondrous images. Take the cable car down to Tatranska Lomnica and enjoy spending some time in one of the most popular mountain villages of the High Tatras. After spending some quality time in Tatranska Lomnica take the local bus to return to Zdiar.
