A few minutes before reaching Skalnate Pleso mountain tarn we advise to have a break at Skalnata Hut – a typical mountain hut found along the way. Some of the mountain huts in the High Tatras are run by “sherpas”. The original cottager of the Skalnata Hut won the “sherpas´contest” by carriing 207.5 kg to the cottage from the vally floor. The photo/ certificate is displayed at the cottage.
Skalnate Pleso (mountain tarn) is the place where the iconic red cable car to Lomnicky Peak (Slovakia´s second highest peak) starts from.
