Discover the rugged beauty of the Ngwempisi Gorge on foot during a slackpacking adventure in eSwantini. Explore on a 9km Ngwempisi Gorge hiking trip with an experienced guide, learning about flora and fauna as well as Swazi culture. Whilst you hike our support staff will transfer your gear to the Rock Lodge, a rustic lodge based in a stunning location overlooking the conservatory.
You will meet up at Malandela's Complex and transfer in an All Out Africa vehicle to the start point of the Ngwempisi Gorge hiking trip. Here you will take a day pack, your packed lunch (prepared by the local team; please let us know if you have any special dietary needs in advance) and head out with your experienced guide.
During this slackpacking adventure in eSwantini you will pass homesteads, grazing cattle and explore the beautiful countryside of Eswatini. The trail follows the Ngwempisi River downstream and then there is a steep upward climb towards the rustic Rock Lodge where you will spend the night.
You will experience a rain shower with the some of the best views possible. The lodge is located high up with magnificent views over the gorge below, a truly great spot for photographs, especially at sunset and sunrise.
The team will provide dinner and breakfast the next morning. The second morning you will spend at leisure with a short hike out where you will meet your vehicle and transfer back to Malandela's Complex.
