Black Sheep Inn is a perfect location to explore several micro-climates and landscapes.
1. Descend into the eroded Rio Toachi canyon system and visit the rural village of Itualo, play on the suspension bridge even ride up the other side to Isinlivi.
2. Climb up above the treeline to the Andean moorlands/paramo and visit a Swiss style cheese factory.
3. Descend through the mysterious Cloud Forest of the Iliniza Ecological Reserve and see orchids, waterfalls and and moss covered forest.
4. Do not miss Laguna Quilotoa, a volcanic crater lake inside an active volcano! At the crater there are many options: hike down to the waters edge for a frigid swim or kayak out to the center, ride a mule back up to the top, or trek the entire rim in about 5 hours peaking at about 12,900 feet!
Ewe are the boss! There are many options for horseback riding in the Ecuadorian Highlands depending on your skill, experience and saddle soars. 3 days of horseback riding with a guide is included. Also included with your stay are 3 meals (usually with a packed lunch to take with on the excursion) and unlimited tea, coffee, purified water and homemade baked goods.
There are many directions to head each day to discover Inca Ruins, local artisans woodworking furniture and crafts, the Swiss style cheese factory, not to mention canyons, cloud forest and most of all the must see destination of Laguna Quilotoa.
After a day of horseback riding in the Andes, relax in the wood-fired sauna and soaking pool or with an hour long massage or stretch out in the Yoga Studio.
