What to expect

Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek: Trekking Holiday in Nepal: Itinerary

Day 01: Kathmandu Arrival (1,300m/4,264ft)
A warm welcome at the International Airport by our Himalayan Sanctuary Adventure representative. A transfer to the hotel from there. Rest and stay overnight at a hotel.

Day 02: Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing
We proceed for Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing today. We visit the following places:

Boudhanath Stupa:
Boudhanath is the largest stupa in the valley that lies about 6 km to the east of Kathmandu. The stupa design is attractive and has great cultural importance. A peaceful feeling after visiting the stupa.
Pashupatinath Temple:
Pashupatinath is a holy Hindu temple popular around the world. The phallic symbol Shiva Linga is ornamented inside the pagoda temple. The temple’s existence is before 400 AD. There is a holy Bagmati river flowing beside the temple.
Patan Durbar Square:
Patan Durbar Square is every art lover’s delight. The Durbar Square is artistically beautiful and can be seen in the palace buildings, courtyards, and stunning pagoda temples. The Shikhar-style Krishna temple is made of stone which is quite impressive. The Patan Museum and the former royal palace are the main attractions here.
Swayambhunath Stupa:
Swayambhunath Stupa is popular as The Monkey Temple as we can see many monkeys. The temple is situated on the hillock and can get a beautiful view of Kathmandu valley. The stupa is holy for Buddhists and it has a great history attached to the establishment of Kathmandu Valley.
Return to a hotel after the sightseeing. Arrange the backpack for the trek, Stay overnight at a hotel.

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara – 7 Hours
After breakfast, a scenic highway drive on a tourist bus with a guide to Pokhara. Enjoy the lovely scenery and stop for snacks and lunch at stopovers. Upon reaching Pokhara, transfer to a hotel. Later in the evening, explore the nearby places and a short walk to the lakeside. Spend a night at a hotel.

Day 04: Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul, and trek to Tikhedhunga (1577m) – 4 Hours
After breakfast, a short drive to Nayapul from a bus station in Pokhara. A starting point for our trek. Walk passing through Modi Khola and follow the route admiring the surrounding sceneries. Traverse through the village of Birethanti, and Hille, ultimately reach Tikhedhunga. Stay overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 05: Trek from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2840m) – 5 Hours
We trek from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani. A steep ascend to the beautiful Magar settlement village Ulleri. From there, continue walking through the verdant forest of oaks and rhododendron to reach Banthanti. Walk a little further and finally reach our destination Ghorepani. Stay overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 06: Hike Poon Hill (3210m) and trek to Tadapani (2610m) – 5 Hours
An early morning wakes up to hike Poon Hill. Poon Hill is a famous viewpoint for sunrise and sunset. Also, a great panoramic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Poon Hill viewpoint is famous among photographers as one can get stunning snaps of snow-capped mountains, sunrise, sunset, Pokhara Valley, and natural surrounding sceneries. Take some snaps and collect some memories before returning to Ghorepani. Have breakfast at Ghorepani and trek to Deurali and then reach Tadapani. Stay overnight.

Day 07: Trek from Tadapani to Ghandruk (1940m) – 5 Hour
Walk downhill passing the green forest to the trail to reach the biggest Gurung settlement village Ghandruk. Explore the lovely village. Interact with locals and get to learn about their culture and lifestyle. Feel pleased with their warm hospitality. Relish the impressive sceneries and authentic food. Stay overnight at a local guesthouse.

Day 08: Trek from Ghandruk to Nayapul (1010m), and drive to Pokhara – 5 Hours
We come to the end of the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek. We trek down to Nayapul gradually and enjoy the environment. Upon reaching Nayapul, take a short drive back to Pokhara. Rest at a hotel for a while. Later, explore the local markets to buy souvenirs or do some shopping. Visit the lakeside area and if one wishes boating on Phewa Lake. Visit the Tal-Barahi temple. Enjoy the nightlife in Pokhara and stay overnight at a hotel.

Day 09: Drive Back To Kathmandu
We drive back to Kathmandu with fond memories collected on the trek. After breakfast, return to Kathmandu on a tourist bus with a guide. Transfer to the hotel and refresh and rest for a bit. In your free time, visit the Thamel market and do some shopping. In the evening, join us for a farewell dinner. Share your trekking experience with us. Stay overnight at a hotel.

Day 10: Final Departure
