This female only climbing camp in Spain with Daila Ojeda, gives you the opportunity to learn from one of the world’s best female climbers. Learn safety skills, improve your technique and push your sport climbing limits in a supportive girls only Siurana rock climbing holiday.
This coaching camp is designed to provide a comfortable, safe, and supportive environment where female climbers can learn from one of the world’s best climbers, Daila Ojeda, in one of Europe’s top sport climbing destinations. It’s not about the grades, women can and do climb as hard as men — but with different body types and strengths, female climbers can require different instruction and beta.
These specialized camps aim to prove that raw power isn’t everything, and concentrate on women further discovering what their bodies are capable of and how far they can push them while emphasizing the importance of precise footwork, increased flexibility, and good mind control for developing into a stronger climber.
All of this takes place in the climbing mecca of Siurana, a quaint medieval village surrounded by a seemingly unending amount of tall, orange limestone cliffs begging to be climbed. The views are breathtaking and the climbing community unmatched. Women of all ages and abilities are welcome and our dedicated coaches Daila and Maja are here to challenge you while ensuring you enjoy every step of the journey. This unique experience provides the opportunity to build relationships, connect, and climb with other awesome women rock stars that love every minute they spend on the rock.
On our “Girls on Rock” Siurana rock climbing holiday you will learn:
* how to belay safely, set up a top-rope, and lead climb. We’ll also cover other technical aspects to build up your knowledge
* how to use a guide book and local knowledge to get to know a climbing area in order to choose routes that best suit your style
* how to use climbing calls and communicate efficiently so you won’t sound like a rookie
* basic and advanced movement skills for improved efficiency and better climbing
* How to cleaning anchors and a gain basic understanding of outdoor risks so everyone gets home safe
* different techniques for slabs and verts
* efficient movement, saving energy and resting
During this female only climbing camp in Spain there is personalized coaching on-going depending your experience and grade:
Slab/vertical ground
Focusing on footwork, you will learn to find balance and use the most efficient and effective ways to propel your body up the rock without wasting energy. You will learn how to work with friction, make delicate steps and calculated, technical moves.
Overhangs
You’ll develop and practise skills to help you handle climbing steeper rock faces. We will cover footwork and techniques such as drop knees, heel and toe hooks. A lot of time will be dedicated to the fine art of resting while climbing, as well as fighting “the pump”, both mentally and physically.
Onsight vs redpoint techniques
Climbing onsight and projecting more difficult lines differs both physically and mentally. Daila Ojeda will cover the most effective strategies for success while onsighting or working a route over many days. You will have plenty of time to practice these and internalise the new skills.
Daily plan for female only climbing camp in Spain
8 – 10 am
Wake up, have a relaxing breakfast, coffee in local bakery. We will meet up at 10am to discuss the plan for the day so make sure you are ready to go!
10.30 am
All aboard! We pack into the van and head off to the crag so you can enjoy the first day of your female only Spain climbing camp at Siurana adventure!
11 am - 2 pm
Jump on some warm up climbs and start getting your body moving. Look up for some challenges for the day and figure out the beta. Of course there is always time for some cool coaching.
2pm
Lunchtime! Pull out your packed lunch and relax on Spanish sun with great Siurana/Margalef views. This is also a good time to snap some photos.
2.30 - 7pm
Back to climbing. Using what you learned in the morning, and our individualized coaching, start nailing the projects down.
7 - 8pm
Time to relax with a well-earned beer from one of the local climbing bars. We will re-group, discuss the highlights from the day and what the focus will be tomorrow.
8pm
Pour yourself some Spanish wine/beer and get something to eat. Who knows where the night will lead… Mañana más y mejor.
11 pm
There are no rules but most of us on this girls only Siurana rock climbing holiday will be in bed by this time!
