Want to learn to ski? Anyone can do it! A skiing holiday is one of the few holidays that all generations can do together and enjoy. We have regularly have families skiing together ranging from 8 to 80. Grandparents, parents, grand children and children all on a fully inclusive learn to ski holiday in Arinsal together!

Andorra skiing is a wonderful holiday – but it can be disastrous if it is not properly planned! When you think about booking your first ski holiday avoid big name resorts – there is no point going to Meribel or Val d’Isere to learn how to ski. Go to smaller resorts and check out the ski school. Arinsal in Andorra is one of our most recommended learn to ski resorts with a British run ski school.

Ski Schools

English speaking instructors are a must. Some ski schools have British Instructors, and while Britain is not an Alpine nation we do have some of the best ski instructors in the world! Ideally morning lessons – that start at around 10am for 2 or 3 hours. This allows you plenty of time to get up to the ski school meeting point in the morning. After you lesson a nice lunch in a mountain restaurant before practicing what you have learnt on the gentler slopes in the afternoon.

Ski Kit and what to take!

You rent you skis, ski boots, helmets and poles (or snowboard and boots) in the resort. We recommend that you buy a good warm and waterproof jacket – you can use this at home especially during the Winter! Some lined and water proof ski pants, decent set of gloves, a hat, thermal underwear, perhaps a fleece top, ski socks – you can buy most of this at supermarkets and discount shops (eg TKmak, Sports Direct). You will also need a good set of goggles and sunglasses please don’t skimp on these – Ski goggles range in price from few pounds to over £250 (!) but a set around £30 will be perfect. Look for ventilation, double lens for anti fogging an a wide adjustable strap.

When you chose a resort think about non skiing activities. You might want to take a break each afternoon – some resorts offer many alternatives to skiing.

Try and book a hotel or apartment that is close to the ski slopes and ski school. The last thing you want to be doing is getting on buses or walking miles every morning. Staying close to the ski lifts and ski school means no rushing in the morning which helps keep stress levels low and enjoyment high!

What to expect

A fully inclusive learn to ski holiday in Arinsal with sympathetic British and English speaking instructor. Arinsal is one of the original Andorran resorts - spread along the main road up to Arcalis, Arinsal is renowned for good après ski - the Surf at the bottom of the gondola , British owned El Moli through to an authentic Irish Bar - El Derby.

Over the years the resort has become a lot tamer and family friendly. There are a whole host of shops, bars and restaurants to keep everyone happy. Andorra La Vielle connect by regular bus services is around 30 minutes away and well worth a visit.

Beginners (both adults and children) staying in Arinsal will be taught by some of the UKs best ski instructors in the Vall Nord Ski School. If you stay in La Manssana, the ski school starts at La Caubella every morning and like Arinsal there are many British instructors.

Under careful guidance beginners will soon gain the confidence to use the chairlifts and start exploring the area on the wide blue runs. After 2 or 3 days there is no reason why a confident beginner can't make it over to Pal and La Taberna at La Caubella for lunch.

At the end of the week of beginners Andorra skiing it is worth making the effort to get up to Arcalis where they will be rewarded by wide long open blues - El Tunel from the top back to the base station is a long wide gentle blue run which will inspire confidence to venture further afield
