We offer you the choice of this 7 day Morocco off-road motorbiking Sahara Desert tour (with 5 days riding) or four other different off-road adventures.
On a recent model KTM 450 EXC you will have your own adventure across southern Morocco but knowing you are fully supported. Each bike with it’s own GPS with the day’s route showing as a purple line to which you adhere, means our groups of up to 10 riders can ride at their own comfortable pace, with the fastest going on ahead to the next regrouping point while the others are spread out between them and the support truck following behind.
A combination of fast tracks across vast dried lake beds, sandy river beds and trails, muddy rivers sometimes flowing, the spectacular mountain range of Jebel Saghro with its austere, lunatic landscapes and its own “Monument valley”. The chance to conquer Morocco\’s highest dunes at 205m in Erg Chebbi. Good quality accommodation with great food and, always a highlight of the tour, a night in our desert bivouac far from lights and road and where after dinner you can enjoy tamtam drummers around the campfire.
Itinerary 7 day Morocco off-road motorbiking Sahara Desert tour
Day 1
Arrival day. Briefing, allocation of bikes and meet the rest of the group.
Day 2
Ouarzarzate to Dades Gorge (approx 186kms)
Hugging the foothills of the High Atlas, through gorges and fast riding winding our way across high plateau.
Day 3
Dades to Merzouga (approx 250kms)
Fast interesting riding. We cross the mightiest river in Morocco hopefully flowing slowly, before seeing in the distance the amazing view of the Cathedral dunes at Erg Chebbi - the highest dunes in Morocco at 205m. Also known as the shifting sands as they move as much as 1m backwards and forwards annually. We will attempt to conquer the highest one before dinner!!
Day 4
Merzouga to Ouzina (approx 100kms)
Morning some more riding in the dunes before leaving for one of the tour highlights - a night in our desert camp far from light pollution and roads. Time to go into the dunes, 80m high, bike to the top and watch an amazing African sunset whilst drinking a beer. Then back for dinner and afterwards enjoy tamtam drummers playing around a roaring campfire.
Day 5
Ouzina to N\'Kob (approx 220kms)
Departing through the dunes after breakfast we go to our refuelling point 25kms away. Once refilled using plastic bottles we head north, firstly through the dreaded fesh-fesh, and then fast riding across a huge flat area with occasional small dunes. Our hotel is an ancient converted kasbah (castle) over 200 years old. A real Moroccan experience.
Day 6
N\'Kob to Ouarzazate (approx 205kms)
Starting with a deeply rutted sandy riverbed we then climb into the Jebel Saghro mountain range, arguably the most beautiful in Morocco with its\' austere lunar-like scenery. After a picnic lunch in a gorge by a stream, the final part of the day\'s riding is back through the fringes of the High tlas to our base hotel.
