6-day Kidepo Valley cultural & safari holiday in Uganda, itinerary:
Day 1: Travel to Kidepo Valley
After having breakfast, we set off from Kampala/ Hotel and we head north towards Kitgum town which is about 452km, the journey takes us through the busy traffic jammed town which was badly affected during the 1980s Ugandan civil war. We shall stopover in Luwero town for a couple of fruits and then continue through Nakasongola district which is a largely populated area with open savannah grasslands. Have lunch in Gulu and we then continue to Kitgum where we check in the lodge for an overnight.
Day 2: Game drives in Kidepo National Park
Early in the morning after breakfast, we set off for a 2-3 hour drive to Kidepo National park through, Kakwanga, Loitanit Villages and finally enter the park, we shall relax at the lodge/ UWA bandas, lunch and then we arrange for an evening fully parked game drive were you will have a chance to view many animal species including ; the Cheetah, caracal, aardwolf, greater and lesser kudu, mountain reedbuck and Guenther's dik-dik, Jackson's hartebeest, oribi, eland and klipspringer, lions and many more.
Day 3: Morning & evening game drive in the park
Early in the morning after breakfast, you will proceed for a game drive in the park, were you will view many animals including; the lions, elephants, giraffes, bird species, buffalos, and many more. You will have a lunch break as you prepare for an night game drive with in the park were you have a chance to view more animal species that you would have missed at the previous game drives.
Day 4: Cultural encounters
Wake up very early for a game drive to catch the wildlife while they are active. Enjoy a short morning game drive where you will spot tree climbing lions, cheetaahs, ostriches, zebras, giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, as well as a short hikes to climb rocks that give a magnificent view of the flat unending landscape. Birding is also another activity you will do while here since the park has hundreds of bird species. Visit the local tribes of the Dodoth and Karamojong who are normadic pastoralists who are almost unaffected by civilization and continue to live in their traditional lifestyle which you will experience first hand.
Day 5: Sipi Falls Hike, Coffee Tours
Have breakfast and an early scenic drive to Sipi Falls, there are 3 waterfalls and you will visit all of them. The effort is well worth it as you will find beautiful scenery. In the afternoon, you will visit the farming households. You will be trained on the entire process of how coffee moves from the farm up to the cup. Return to your hotel for late lunch and rest in the evening enjoying magnificent sunset.
Day 6: Transfer to Kampala/ Entebbe
Have early breakfast, and after enjoy a morning game drive as you prepare to depart back to Kampala. You will enjoy many wildlife and bird species, have a stopover for your lunch and after proceed to Kampala arriving in the evening.
