The major highlights are game drives in Queen Elizabeth national park, primate trekking ( chimpanzee at Kibale National Park, gorillas at Bwindi National Park, and golden monkeys in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park). After the golden monkey trekking in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, there is a planned stopover at Lake Bunyonyi before driving back to Kampala on day 6. The 6-day tour starts a pickup in Kampala/Entebbe and also ends in Kampala/Entebbe.
Day 1: Transfer from Entebbe/Kampala to Kibale National Park (5-6hrs drive)
Our representative will pick you up in Entebbe or downtown Kampala and drive to Kibale National Park. The drive to Kibale National Park will go through the amazing landscapes of western Uganda. You will arrive at Kibale National Park in the afternoon, ready to start dinner and a relaxed night.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking at Kibale National Park & Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
You will head to the Kibale forest immediately after breakfast to trek the chimpanzees in their forest home. If you are lucky on the trek, you might encounter other different species of monkeys in the Kibale forest. These include colobus monkey, olive baboon, and red-tailed monkey. Transfer from Kibale Forest National Park after chimp trekking to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive from Kibale to Queen Elizabeth National Park will go through the spectacular Fort Portal crater lakes.
Day 3: Kasenyi plains game drives, Ishasha sector for tree climbing lions & Transfer to Bwindi National Park
Kasenyi plains game drive: You will start the day with an early morning breakfast at the lodge. Afterward, we proceed to the famed Kasenyi plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park to spot various species of wild animals. Kasenyi plains dwell in the vast savannahs of the Albertine rift in Queen Elizabeth National Park. It will be a morning full of adventure! Expect to encounter lions, herds of buffalos, elephants, Uganda kobs, topi, and bushbucks. While spotting the "Big Five" in the park is not guaranteed, on a lucky day, you may site leopards to make it the "Big Four."
Ishasha sector tree lions: On the way to Bwindi National Park, we will drive through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, popularly known for the tree-climbing lions. Unlike their counterparts at the Kasenyi plains, the lions at Ishasha have found a way to climb the fig trees to enjoy the warm temperatures available in the park. While the sighting of the tree-climbing lions is not 100% guaranteed, a stopover at Ishasha is worth a visit!
Transfer to Bwindi National Park: We will drive to Bwindi National Park after the short afternoon game drive at the Ishasha sector.
Day 4: Gorilla Trekking Adventure at Bwindi National Park
You will head to the Bwindi National Park gate immediately after breakfast to get a briefing about the gorilla trek. The national park guide will conduct the presentation covering what to expect during the gorilla trek. The national guide will assign the gorilla trekking group during the pre-trekking briefing. Other visitors will likely join you. The gorilla trek can take from a few to many hours, depending on how far the gorillas are inside the forest. After the gorilla trek, return to the lodge for the much-needed rest.
Day 5: Golden Monkey Trekking at Mgahinga Gorilla National Park & Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for overnight
You will transfer from Bwindi National Park to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park to trek golden monkeys. The golden monkey trek will be done in 4-5hours. Compliment the golden monkey trekking tour with a visit to the famous Lake Bunyonyi. While at Lake Bunyonyi, consider doing the 'sunset' canoeing activity. Dinner and overnight at Lake Bunyonyi.
Day 6: Transfer from Lake Bunyonyi to Kampala/Entebbe via the Equator Crossing.
This will be the last day of the 6-day Uganda adventure. Transfer to Kampala or Entebbe in the late morning. The drive from Lake Bunyonyi to Kampala or Entebbe will go through Mbarara city and will take an estimated 7-8hrs.
