This fabulous central location gives access to a wide range of via ferratas in the Alps and you’ll be able to spend your evenings exploring the bars, restaurants and cafes spilling out onto pedestrianised squares in the sun.

If you like climbing and adventure you will absolutely love this trip! You don’t need any previous experience of via ferratas to enjoy this trip but a head for heights is a must. You need a moderate to high level of fitness but this is a fun trip, not a military challenge! Minimum age is 14.
Your guide will collect you each morning from your hotel and drop you back off afterwards so you do not have to plan anything else for your 4 day French Alps via ferrata holiday in Gap, France!
The grading of the via ferratas we will be using on this trip will vary from easy to difficult. We have saved the most challenging routes for the end of the trip so you have the opportunity to develop your skills and head for heights progressively! Some of the routes start with an easy section and become gradually more difficult with options for opting out so there is flexibility to adapt to different levels in the group without penalising anyone!

Itinerary for 4 day French Alps via ferrata holiday in Gap, France
Day 1: Arrival
You will make your own way to Gap (we can help you plan your journey here) and check into your hotel. Meet with the rest of the group for a first evening out together.
Day 2: Via Ferratas in the Champsaur
You will explore two via ferratas today, the one in Ancelle and the other in Serre Eyraud. Option to eat lunch in a local restaurant or picnic.
Day 3: Via Ferratas in the Devoluy Massif
The Gorge d'Agnielles and the Via Ferrata Les Etroits. Dramatic limestone scenery with a deep gorge - very different from yesterday!
Day 4: Via Ferratas in the Ecrins
Ailefroide and la Falaise in Freissinieres are on the cards today. The first French via ferrata to be built and dramatic granite rock give today a historical context and another rock type to discover.
Day 5: La Grande Fistoire and return home
The best via ferrata in the Southern French Alps is the finale to your short break. The highlight after a sporty and magnificent course are the 3 big tyrollean zip line descents!
It is possible to arrange an additional night in the hotel if you need.
