There’s a good reason it’s known as the Mayan Riviera. The endless white beaches, stunning resorts, and almost glass like ocean come together to form a holiday destination like no other. Situated on the south western tip of Mexico Playa Del Carmen is a unique blend of Mexican, European, and American cultures – it’s all there to ensure you have a good time!
Accommodation is very reasonable priced so a comfortable bed and a good shower are not going to break the bank. And rich in its diversity of cuisine offerings you can enjoy great food at a price even the budget traveller can afford.
Packing light is a good idea as the climate is settled and warm all year round, although February to May the weather is at its best for mountain biking in Playa Del Carmen. A great base to begin your adventure, Playa is perfectly located just an hour away from the ancient Mayan ruins of Tulum.
Lush tropical forests as expected are a highlight of your trip, and the terrain being typically very rocky some of the formed trails can be quite technical. Perhaps consider blending your mountain biking trip with other adventure activities in order to embrace the full gambit of what Playa has to offer.
Inside the jungle you’ll experience amazing wildlife, see huge sink holes, and visit Mayan villages. If you still have time left over try caving, snorkelling, or even some tree top adrenalin on a high mounted zip line.
Local knowledge will play a big part in a successful Playa Del Carmen mountain biking holiday at so be sure to enlist the assistance of someone reputable when looking for guidance. If possible check out the Punta Venado Bike Park due to open in 2013 for some fun single track.
Pack light but remember jungle riding can be muddy so be prepared!
