Guide to Istanbul skydiving and dropzones in Turkey

Aug 28, 2015 BY Luke Rees

Unfortunately Istanbul skydiving is not possible as there are no dropzones in the city or even that close to the city. However there are dropzones in Turkey meaning that skydiving is possible. The closest dropzone to Istanbul is in Ankara which is 450km east.

Other dropzones in Turkey include Selçuk Efes Havaalanı near Izmir, which is 550 km away from Istanbul. Or you can travel 700 km to the Antalya in the south on the popular Mediterranean coast.

The closest location for Istanbul skydiving is not even in Turkey. Across the border in Bulgaria you can skydive in Kaloyanovo near Plovdiv at around 430 km from Istanbul.

As a fairly ‘out there’ alternative you can catch the ferry from Istanbul to Odessa in Ukraine (be sure to check the current situation before travelling to Ukraine). Just outside the city in Illichivs’k is a dropzone with skydiving next to the Black Sea.

Istanbul skydiving may not be possible, and even the closest dropzones in Turkey are a fair distance away. However you can skydive if you wish, and of course there are many other adventure activities in Istanbul.

If you know of other dropzones in Turkey, or anywhere else that is within easy reach of Istanbul please let us know as we are always happy to update this article.
