It is one of the best places on the Canaries for water sports, with strong and reliable winds and reliable Atlantic swell creating good waves. A surfing holiday in Corralejo usually means day after day of great conditions.

Corralejo attracts surfers from beginner to expert. There are plenty of surf schools and hire shops in the town ready to give lessons and advice.

When the winds are strong, the swell can be too much for beginners in Corralejo itself. But there is a reliable beach break just a little way south in Cotillo that is great for beginners.

Intermediate and advanced surfers will have plenty of choice. Flag Beach is Corralejo’s main beach it is a popular kite and surf spot. It is far from the only one, though.

It’s a good idea to hire a car and explore the many beaches around Fuerteventura. It’s not unusual to have a beach almost to yourself once you’re away from the resort.

Most of the island’s best surf spots are clustered along its northern end, near Corralejo. There are lots of great reef breaks and swell up to 14 feet in places.

It’s worth the trip over to the island of Lobos, just off the coast of Corralejo. When conditions are good there are some challenging tubes to surf.

It’s easily possible to weeks exploring and surfing in Fuerteventura. If you stay in Corralejo, you won’t get bored. There is enough going on in the town to keep it interesting when not in the water. Plus there’s plenty of great surf within walking distance!
