So, what about the windsurfing in Albufeira? The local beaches all around the town offer some good, varied conditions with flat and wave spots to choose from. It is a great place to learn with windsurfing courses and hire shops around.

It is also a good place to practice and improve you skills and, when the wind gets up, to take on a challenge. The water off Albufeira’s main beaches tends to be calm and sheltered from the strongest of winds.

That makes Albufeira a great place to learn to windsurf, but not such a good place for those who already know their way around a board and want something more challenging. That’s OK: there are plenty of places nearby where you’ll find faster winds and bigger swells.
