Paddleboard on one of the most beautiful stretches of the Thames on this Richmond SUP experience!
Guided by one of Paddle Richmond’s fully qualified instructors, you will start your paddleboard session on the Thames from our base right next to Richmond Bridge. You will then paddle either upstream towards Eel Pie Island and Teddington, or downstream towards Isleworth, Kew Gardens and Chiswick, exploring the hidden islands, wildlife and river life on this unique part of the river.
We run most of our sessions at “half-tide” when there is almost no river flow at Richmond, making it very safe and open to paddlers of all abilities, from complete beginners, to those who have paddled many times before. Children over 14 are welcome if they paddle with a parent or legal guardian.
The session will start with a safety briefing and some land-based training before heading out on the water for a guided tour. You’ll be able to ask for technique advice and tips along the way.
During this Richmond SUP experience we will teach you about safety and navigation on the river, and then show you how to stand up, steer, stop - and even self-rescue, so that you are fully confident on the water.
Your Paddleboard session on the Thames will start with a safety briefing and some land-based training on the riverbank near Richmond Bridge. This typically takes 15-20 minutes depending on group size.
You will then head out onto the river, accompanied by one of our instructors, either upstream towards Eel Pie Island and Teddington or downstream towards Richmond Lock, Isleworth, Kew Gardens and Chiswick, depending on the tide.
*The distance actually covered will depend on conditions on the day.
