Get ready to disappear inside a Lake District mountain with one of our extreme canyoning adventures!

We have two canyoning trips available: Stoney Canyon or Skull Canyon, so you choose your adventure.

Stoney Canyon is ideal for those who are after even more excitement and adrenaline than ghyll scrambling offers. You’ll jump into pools, you’ll abseil down cliff faces, and you’ll zip wire down the crevice!

Skull Canyon is unique to Keswick Adventures and an adult-only activity suitable for those in reasonably good shape. Think of everything in Stoney Canyon but much bigger and more extreme! This is a true adventure that you’ll never forget!

Our qualified instructors are friendly and enthusiastic and we use only the best-quality equipment available to make sure you have the safest and most enjoyable time possible!

Minimum age for Lake District canyoning in Keswick is 12 for Stoney Canyon and 18 for Skull Canyon.

What to expect

Meet us at our Keswick Adventures headquarters just outside Keswick. You can park up in our parking area and we'll get you kitted out with your wetsuits and safety equipment for either Stoney Canyon or Skull Canyon.

Once the whole party is ready to go, we'll hop in the Keswick Adventures bus to drive to our starting point (please note, while Covid restrictions are in place, you may need to follow us in your own vehicle to the starting point).

When canyoning in Keswick, there's a walk to the start of the canyon. The walk to Stoney Canyon is fairly easy, but the walk to Skull Canyon is semi-strenuous and only suitable for those with a good level of fitness.

Disappearing into the mountain, the adventure begins with our instructors talking you through each stage and getting you tied into the abseils and zip wires. You emerge victorious at the end of the canyon and we'll head back to the bus and HQ to change out of our wet kit.

The entire Lake District canyoning experience will last for approximately 1.5-2 hours, though this will differ depending on group size.
