Our Grade 5 Rangitikei White Water Rafting Trip in New Zealand (half day) is often recognised as one of the best in the world
Our Grade 5 Rangitikei White Water Rafting Trip in New Zealand (half day) is often recognised as one of the best in the world (and recently voted in the top 8 rafting trips in the world by Red Bull!).
Your trip on the Rangitikei starts off easy with sections of fun Grade 2 and Grade 3 rapids; great practice for what lies ahead!
Over a two to three hour period, and 11 kms of river, you will experience rapids that start at that easy end, and culminate in the gorge. A section of the river where 10 major rapids, from Grade 3+ to Grade 5, line up one after the other to thrill you and excite you. Some of these rapids are short and sharp, while others carry on for several hundred meters.
The trip finishes back at the lodge, for a hot shower.
Arrive at River Valley Lodge in time for your briefing (either 8.15 or 12.30) for your Grade 5 Rangitikei White Water Rafting adventure. The guides will give you a run down of how the trip works, some safety information and explain how to put on the equipment. Then, you will be kitted out with your gear and when you are ready you will jump on the bus. Then, you will drive for approximately 20 minutes to the put on or start point.
Before you get onto the river, the guides will give you some more safety information and demonstrate how to sit in the raft. Here you will be split into teams and this is your last chance to change your mind and head back to the lodge. When you are ready then you will jump in your raft and head off downstream.
The trip starts out with some easy but fun grade 2-3 rapids. Great practice for what lies ahead. Then, over the next 2-3 hours you will descend through 'the gorge' where 10 major rapids (grades 3-5) line up one after the other. You will have to work as a team to safely manoeuvre through them.
The trip finishes up back at the lodge where you can have a hot shower and look at the photos from the trip. The photos will highlight what a white water rafting trip in New Zealand is all about!
