Fun dive in the active volcanic lake at Ilopango. Enjoy two dives guided by our PADI professionals to a maximum depth of 30m, dependent on your certification level. Enjoy the thrill of diving in warm fresh water (30C/86F) at an altitude of 440m. During this altitude diving experience in El Salvador you’ll explore the sheer walls of underwater mountains as well as the sandy plateaus which teem with fresh water cichlids, crabs and snails.
On this Lake Ilopango fun dive you’ll visit the hot vents where water so hot it shimmers as it issues forth from the lake bed, or visit the statues of the 3 virgins (18m) and Christ the Redeemer (30m). Have a break between the 2 dives by either relaxing on board or exploring one of the islands thrown up by the volcano.

Meet the dive professional in San Salvador at 06:30
Travel to the lake, arrive by 07:15
Prepare equipment and be on the lake by 08:00
1st dive around 08:30. depending on dive site
First Lake Ilopango fun dive of 45 minutes dive (approx)
1 hour surface interval while moving to the second dive site and enjoying a complimentary snack. You can also visit one of the few islands that are underwater mountains as the lake has a depth of 235m /770ft.
A second 45 minute dive
Return to shore where you can purchase a very nice lunch cooked by out boat captain's wife in a lakeside cantina.
Return to San Salvador by around 13:30, depending on time spent eating etc.
