La Poza is one of our best-known dive sites, also known as Tarpon’s Hole because tarpons are attracted to this extravagant narrow channel. We frequently see spotted eagle rays gliding against the current as well.
The proximity to the mangroves and different ecosystems also makes Xcalak a great place for spotting Manatees. We are lucky to be situated just north of a protected Manatee reserve located within Chetumal Bay, so there are certain dive sites where the chances of seeing Manatees are pretty good!
