At the feet of the Pratomagno Mountain range in the middle of Tuscany there lies the little known village of San Giustino Valdarno. In the village you will find a little shop, that’s where the mountain biking in Tuscany adventure begins.
The shop, aptly named ‘On The Tuscan Bike’ offers exactly what it says; the chance to rent MTB’s or E-Bikes.
As most visitors are new to this relatively unknown corner of Tuscany we can help by providing an experienced and Qualified MTB Guide, Gabriele.
Gabriele has lived all his life in this area. He is mad about bikes, often competes in competitions but most of all he loves to show off his local area with all the beautiful countryside, nature reserves and, of course, gastronomic delights he is so proud of!
The tours are personally tailored to suit everyone, we understand that no two groups have the same level of experience or fitness. However age and capability are not important, we cater for everyone from serious cyclists to visitors who would just like a gentle ride through the rolling Tuscan hills.
Our routes can take you up to the highest point of the mountains or down into the beautiful river Arno valley to the Bandella Nature Reserve, all rich in unusual wildlife and steeped in history. Of course, if you prefer to be free spirits the tours may also be self guided!
What we want is the chance to show you the true hidden Tuscany, flora, fauna, farms, foods and fun which other tourists would never find!
For those who don’t want to cycle, or would like a day out of the saddle we also offer walking or trekking excursions with a Qualified Ambiental Guide. A relaxing and interesting way to get literally off the beaten track, also fun for all the family.
An activity holiday can be tiring so our hand picked accommodations are the perfect places to relax after a long ride.
There are two options.
The first is a large, beautifully restored Tuscan farmhouse only 3 minutes drive from the bike shop. (Alternatively guests may ride their bikes back to the villa to be ready for the next day.) The villa sleeps 10 with three double bedrooms and two twin bedrooms, has three bathrooms, two sitting rooms and a large kitchen-cum-dining room, It is set in twenty acres of private olive groves and has a very large garden with private pool.
The second option is apartments which have recently been converted from an ancient hand-made brick works, also with extensive gardens and two shared pools. Bookings for accommodation is always direct with the property owners so no commission changes hands.
