Mexico PADI Open Water Dive Course in Xcalak

The Mexico PADI Open Water Dive Course in Xcalak is your first step towards becoming a scuba diver! If you’ve always wanted to see what goes on beneath the waves, then this is the right course for you! PADI offers the world’s most popular and widely recognized scuba courses. Millions of people have learned to scuba dive and gone on to discover the wonders of the aquatic world through this course.

This course has three main components; theory, confined water and open water. Training is performance-based as opposed to time-based. This means that you will have time to practice what you’re learning and you won’t move on to the next part until you are comfortable with the first.

Don’t want to spend time in the classroom on your holiday? Then have a look at our Elearning options. You can complete all of your studies, quizzes, and exams before arriving in Xcalak. This means that you will only need to do a quick review and then continue with the practice when you are here.

Don’t have much time in Xcalak? Then why not consider an open water referral. This means that you can complete all of your theory and confined water practice at home in one dive center, then finish up the dives with us. You will then just need to do a theory and skills review before we take you on your four open water dives.

If you are already a PADI Scuba Diver then you will only need to do an upgrade. This means completing the remaining elements of the Open Water Course, you won’t need to repeat what you have already done (only as a review to show that you remember them!).

PADI Open Water Divers are qualified to dive independently (with a qualified buddy) to a maximum depth of 18 meters/60 feet. They are able to obtain air fills, rent or purchase scuba equipment and participate in dive activities

The full Mexico PADI Open Water Dive Course in Xcalak generally lasts for three or four days, starting with a full-day classroom session to cover the five sections of theory.

Once the classroom session is complete the Instructor will introduce several scuba skills and allow for practice time in the pool or confined water, as well as completing the waterman skill exercises.

Once these are complete then we will finish with four open water dives over two days from the boat. The Instructor can change this schedule slightly by mixing up the class/pool/open water dives as long as theory one precedes confined water one which precedes open water one and so on...

If you do the upgrade from Scuba Diver to Open Water, then normally two days is enough for the two chapters in the class, two confined sessions followed by the two open water dives.

For a referral, we will need half a day to do the theory and confined water review before taking you on the four open water dives. Two or three days are normally enough for this.
