Stand up paddling remains one of the fastest growing and more accessible water sports today, with real diversity and inclusiveness as its core. Whatever your age, weight or water sports experience, we have a board and paddle that’s right for you.

Following the Academy of Surfing Instructors (ASI) course syllabus, the 1 or 2 hour Portland SUP course provides a rudimental guidance of stand up paddling. All participants will understand:

Basic terminology used in SUPing.
How to launch and land safely.
The Rhino position.
Paddling an manoeuvring in a kneeling position.
How to stand up on the board.
Basic manoeuvring and paddling technique whilst standing.

The aim of the Dorset Stand Up Paddling tuition is to provide a bite size introduction to the sport. A way to get a feel for the sport and see if it’s for you!

What to expect

Following the Academy of Surfing Instructors (ASI) course syllabus, the 1 or 2 hour Portland SUP course provides a rudimental guidance of stand up paddling. All participants will understand:

The aim of the 1hr taster is to provide a bite size introduction to the sport - a way to get a feel for the sport and see if it's for you!

Following on from the content of the one-hour taster, the two-hour taster provides that extra bit of time to develop a client's skill-set and understanding further. We use the teaching model of the Academy of Surfing Instructors (ASI), ensuring that all participants are guided in a safe and enjoyable manner.

We develop skills at a comfortable pace for all clients, from refining paddling technique, to step-back transitions and improving efficiency on longer tours around the harbour during this Dorset Stand Up Paddling tuition.
