The 4 day South Africa PADI Open Water Course in Umkomaas is a permanent dive qualification and allows you to dive up to 18m . PADI is a internationally recognized diving institute.
The course takes 4 days to complete, where in those four days you will be doing classroom based work ( going though your manual), pool sessions to complete the skills and then two days of doing two ocean dives each day.
Once completed there is a exam that needs to be written and once that is completed the dive centre registers you on the PADI site. PADI will send you an email with a link that needs to be downloaded in order for you to get you Open Water PADI E-Card.
Once you have decided to do your Open Water Course, an instructor will be allocated to you for the duration of the course. A crew pack will be given to you from PADI with your manual inside.
Day 1 of the South Africa PADI Open Water Course in Umkomaas is classroom based, where you will be going through your manual and watch a DVD with your instructor. The manual has 5 modules and each module has knowledge reviews that needs to be completed. Your instructor will be available to assist at all times.
Day 2, you will be doing pool sessions, the instructor will go through all the skills needed to know and demonstrate. Once done he will let the student do the skills. If the instructor is happy he will sign you off as completed with pol skills and you will be put on the boat for the dives.
Day 3 and day 4, you will do two dives on each day, all skills done in the pool will be re done in the ocean. After your last two dives you will write your exam and once signed off by the instructor the dive centre will register you with PADI as a qualified Open Water diver.
