Guided hiking, multi-day treks, navigation and mountains skills courses, alpine skiing and ski touring in the French Alps
White Marmotte is run by Ian Huyton, a top-qualified ski instructor and international mountain leader. We live in Les Deux Alpes on the edge of the Ecrins massif where the Northern and Southern French Alps meet. This base is ideal for skiing, hiking, mountain biking or trail running in a beautiful national park where the trails are well regarded but rarely crowded. Although based in the Ecrins, we also work regularly in the Mont-Blanc massif and are running navigation courses in Chamonix this summer.
We offer private and group guided hiking, multi-day trekking, and skills courses. We are accredited with NNAS in the UK to offer NNAS Navigator Awards and the Outdoor Discovery Award. We run two-day NNAS navigation courses throughout the year and have a regular programme of half-day family and children’s navigation courses during the summer holidays. We also have weekly afternoon nature walks and full-day group hikes in July and August.
In winter we offer occasional ski touring as well as navigation and mountain skills courses for skiers and snowboarders. Our early-December ski touring course was a great success last winter. We work closely with the European Ski and Snowboard School in Les Deux Alpes and can organise group and private ski or snowboard lessons through them.
