Variety of treks organised from the Kasbah du Toubkal in the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco to suit all abilities.
The Kasbah du Toubkal organises different length treks to explore this beautiful region of the Berbers including a day trek with personal guide and picnic lunch, 2 day overnight Toubkal ascent trek and a 5 night Trekking in Style trek staying at our Trekking Lodge in the Azzaden Valley.
Hiking in the High Atlas is one of the best possible experiences in Morocco. Regardless of your level of fitness this area is accessible to all and only a 90 min drive from Marrakech.
The mountains are home to the indigenous Berber (or Amazigh) people who have inhabited Morocco for at least 5000 years. The Berbers live in small clusters of earthen adobe houses which cling precipitously to mountainsides and are often only accessible by mule or foot. A trek in the High Atlas will offer more than a glimpse into a way of life that has barely changed for centuries and where traditional values and hospitality have been mostly unaffected by the outside world.
The ascent of Jbel Toubkal (4167m), North Africa’s highest mountain, is achievable during the summer months without specialist climbing skills. Most people who are reasonably fit and determined can achieve this goal and the views are magnificent – on a clear day you can see the Sahara. You will be accompanied by a local mountain guide and have mule support on the access route to the Neltner hut.
