Lets face it there are not many British skiing movies. All the big budget and famous ski flicks are shot in more traditional or exotic destinations. Which is why we are pleased to be introducing the Grounded Ski Film in Scotland.
While most of the UK is restricted to indoor snowdomes or dry ski slopes Scotland at least has a handful of resorts. They may be hampered by low altitude and irregular snowfall but there are still epic days to be had in the Scottish mountains every winter.
When the conditions are good skiing and snowboarding in Scotland can be as good as anywhere on the planet. After all, if you have slopes and snow it is more about what you do with it rather than where it is.

So what are the options when it comes to British ski films? The most famous actual movie is the true story of Eddie The Eagle, but this is mainly based in the Alps. It is a very good film though so well worth a watch.
Beyond that there are plenty of British skiing movies by athletes that hail from the UK. But most of these are not shot elsewhere than our green and pleasant land – there is a clue why in that idyllic vision of Britain.
If you are looking for a ski film in Scotland there are a few. Late from 2015 about freeriding in Scotland is one of the few professional films based entirely in Scotland. There are plenty of short movies such as Steep Scotland and Every Few Winters that make it into film festivals but these are rarely longer then 10 minutes.
Scotland of course gets segments in full movies. For example, Warren Miller included skiing in Scotland while wearing kilts in a movie from the 80s. Plus of course there are plenty of YouTube videos of people skiing and snowboarding in Scotland – some of which are pretty good.
Which is why we are pleased to be introducing Grounded. A 54 minute ski film in Scotland including local skier and snowboarders Findlay Farquharson, Joab Matthews, Cameron Wood and Robert Kingsland. Slickly filmed and produced by Bundu Media and Charlie Wood Visuals this is a Scottish skiing movie in every sense.

Having grown up inheriting a deep respect for the mountains in Scotland, four friends who connected over their love for Scottish snowsports find themselves reunited back where it all began.
Having chased snow across the globe, the lads find themselves grounded. 2020 and the global pandemic had other ideas and finally they have wound up together on home soil. A winter in which they can explore their backyards with a whole new perspective. This is a journey of friendship and adventure through an unpredictable Scottish winter.
Grounded will get its worldwide premier on Friday 19th November 2021. This is at the Winter Opener with Blues Ski. Their Film Night 2021 is from 7 to 10 pm at the Roxy Assembly, in Edinburgh. You can pick up tickets here.
