Barcelona is the most populous Spanish city on the Mediterranean. With warm summers, mild winters and plenty of sunshine. There is also relatively low levels of precipitation – so water sports are popular year round.

Those seeking more adventure can continue south to Gibraltar and enter the Atlantic Ocean. From here head onto the Canaries, or around the Portuguese portion of the Iberian coastline.

If you charter a yacht to explore the Costa Brava north of Barcelona you can carry on east into the Mediterranean. Visit the French Riviera, take in cities such as Marseille, Monaco, Nice and Gerona. Alternatively head further afield to Corsica or Sardinia.

Yachts can be chartered from numerous marinas in Barcelona. Those with the proper sailing credentials will be able to skipper a yacht according to the rules of the suppliers.

Sailing day trips in Barcelona

Day cruises leave Barcelona either early or mid-morning. They tour the local coastline, and return in the afternoon or evening. Sunset cruises are also a great option and provide a beautiful start to a romantic evening.

July and August can get very hot in Barcelona and the January and February can be fairly cold. But people visit and sail in Barcelona year round.
