Previously knowns as Truk Atoll/ Truk Lagoon it is within Chuuk State of the Fed States of Micronesia and is famous for its giant oceanic lake surrounded by a huge barrier reef and islands.
The lagoon is the final resting place for more than 100 ships, planes and a submarine – the legacy of a fierce World War II battle between Imperial Japanese forces and Allied carrier planes. Decades later, they have become natural reefs, draped with sparkling corals, serving as fish havens, with most wartime artifacts still aboard. They are fascinating to visit and accessible to most reasonably experienced divers with vast arrays of tropic fish and invertebrates.
The most suitable method to experience Chuuk is from the Thorfinn. We are conveniently and securely moored in amongst the main wrecks of Truk Lagoon allowing for rapid and easy access to more wrecks and to complete more dives than you can from land based operations. Our able tenders allow quick access to often overlooked outer reefs which have wide varieties of pelagic and reef fish along cascading coral walls stretching down into a blue abyss below.
Our unique liveaboard diving experience offers flexible stays of 5 days (minimum) or more, thanks to our refined system of fixedly mooring our ‘mothership’ out at dive sites. This avoids the need for frequent trips to port for guest changes and supplies. Additionally, it reduces needs and costs to arrange shoreside facilities with direct airport to ship and back to airport transfers. This creates the most safe diving times between your flight schedules.
We offer different dive plans to suit varied interests, skills, and budgets. Our flexible packages can be tailored to meet the needs of each visitor. Additionally, we can arrange alternate embarkations from local hotels to/from the ship upon request.

- 10 double occupancy rooms for 20 guests.
- 13 Toilets, 11 Showers, eight in private facility guest rooms.
- ‘A’ deck with upper bridge controls, electronics mast.
- ‘B’ deck with navigation bridge forward, chartroom/business center, liferafts, emergency beacons, dive launch storage, aft sun deck with lounge chairs and shade canopy.
- ‘C’ deck Guest Lounge seating 30 persons, bar, DVD and reading library, surround sound CD/player with I-pod connex, 50” LED TV with DVD player, 2 shower rooms, two toilet rooms, Guestroom No’s 9, 10, and 11. Hallway storage closets.
- ‘C’ deck aft of Main Lounge, with 2 camera service/storage tables, tabled over spa, and adjacent deck chairs.
- ‘D’deck forward interior with Dining Room, 5 tables seating 26 persons, adjoining galley and pantry, view windows, bookcase, stairs down to crew area.
- ‘D’ deck aft interior with Boatique (handicrafts, t-shirts, postcards), dive service center, steering flat, ‘Thor’s Lair’, a large room with luxury appointments, and Room 3.
- ‘E’ deck aft, with big ensuite Guestrooms 4,5,6,7,8.
- E deck forward, with large crew mess room, laundry, 3 crew rooms, toilet and shower rooms, walk-in cooler/refrigerator, deck stores and spare outboard motor parts.
- F deck, with 2 crew rooms, large 2 sided hold with O2 generator, diving compressors, dive and oxy cylinder storages, heavy deck stores.
