Previously a blog was little more than a digital diary. Then along came web 2.0, and with it social media and a revolution in online publishing. Now the best travel blogs assimilate all the available technology into what some of the hottest web properties – with that in mind here is a selection of snowboarding blogs that we like.
Now technology is all very well, the best snowboarding blogs not only use this technology well but also produce engaging content that makes a good old fashioned read.
Snowboarding blogs that we like
Typical of the multimedia new blog types, Shayboarder (AKA Shannon) pulls it all together. An all-round publishing platform, you are getting reviews, interviews, product testing and plenty of off-season action.
Based in Keystone, Colorado (US) the only thing you need to know is that the journal part of the blog stops when the snow season ends – and the MTB action starts.
Did we mention Shannon is a girl? No, because it’s just not relevant (but we dropped it in here cause there’s still some numbskull attitudes out there).
This time it’s a board + gear manufacturer. Not that this matters, we are long used to companies/ brands producing both boards and apparell, but do they produce the goods online?
Well, it’s got a simple layout and is easy to navigate. There’s still lots of product, but it remains a snowboarding blog to bookmark.
Ok, so it’s a big name brand. But that’s not always a bad thing. Great design and top quality content keep this blog rolling. But don’t expect it all to be about snowboarding. Yep, it’s a mix of all the company’s associated sports.
Purists might prefer an all-snowboarding blog but we’re big fans of content that reflects our lives rather than just one, seasonal segment. It’s an approach seen in the top travel blogs, and in this case the commercial trade off is worth it for the content.
From the publishing beast that is Transworld. Big blog that leads with photos and videos. Could do much more with its ‘Resort News’ section, but for the vids it’s excellent. ‘Wallpaper Wednesday’ features some must-have desktop shots, but overall it’s lacking a little character.
Don’t be shy let us know the snowboarding blogs that you like – even if it is not ours….
