10 of the World’s best skydiving holiday destinations

Many years ago I discovered that living dangerously thrilled me. I started off mountain climbing, but soon learned that soaring over mountains is the real way to earn your stripes. Skydiving and travel are my passion, so to share my passions I’ve put together 10 of the World’s best skydiving holiday destinations.

I learnt to skydive in the UK where there are some great places to begin your skydiving journey. But if you want to travel while you skydive — or skydive while you travel — take a look at my list of the World’s best skydiving holiday destinations and add them to your bucket list.

World’s best skydiving holiday destinations

1. Everest, Nepal

Ok, so you may have to wait until you’ve inherited a small fortune to make this dream come true…. but I can’t think of a single better way to blow your fortune than skydiving over the highest peak in the world — the immense Mt. Everest.

They only take four skydiving trips annually, and you’ll need to pay a deposit of £700 six months before you go and then a mind blowing £10,000 (!!!) three months before. Hands down though, this is the most exhilarating place to fall through the clouds. And I dare say you might get a bottle of champers thrown in for you when you touch down.

2. Fox Glacier, New Zealand

New Zealand is the adventure capital of the world, so you can rest assured that the facilities and instructors there are the crème de la creme. Fox Glacier has it all: stunning rainforests, beautiful lakes, glaciers (Franz Josef and Fox) and the Tasman Sea. Those crazy Kiwis really love their extreme sports.

3. Mauritius

Mauritius is an island in the Indian Ocean off the southeast coast of Africa. It is an idyllic holiday destination with beautiful white sandy beaches, mountainous rainforest covered interior and is surrounded by reefs and shallow lagoons. Often considered as a honeymoon or luxury destination, it is also great for an adventure holiday.

During freefall the views are spectacular, beaches, lagoons, forest, ocean all bathed in sunshine. It is not the cheapest place to skydive in the world, but considering the luxury holiday clientele it is certainly not overly priced either.

4. Namibia

This is a desert jump of epic proportions. All you can see for miles around is caramel coloured dunes and endless blue sky. It is totally devoid of cities, greenery and wildlife. It’s the most unique (and weird) skydiving view you’ll ever see. And as you fall 10,000 feet from the sky you get a good 5 minutes to come up with the best desert mirage you can conjure.

5. Le Marche, Italy

Just moments from the Adriatic Sea you get a full view of the beach as you descend back to earth on this skydive. This place is renowned for its nerve-calming and super friendly staff. Of course being in Italy there is great food to be enjoyed along this beautiful coastline, making this one of the World’s best skydiving holiday destinations.

6. Hawaii

If you are an eco-warrior like myself, there’s no better paradise to skydive into than Hawaii. Skydiving operations in Hawaii use energy efficient planes to reduce your skydiving carbon footprint by up to 40%. You can see almost the entire group of islands, the local marine life and famous destinations such as Kaena Point, Pearl Harbour and Diamond Head.

7. Zambia

I don’t think there’s many of us that wouldn’t like to fly over the magnificent Victoria Falls – one of the seven natural wonders of the world. As well as the waterfall, the Zambezi River is full of real life National Geographic scenes and is renowned for white water rafting. You take off and land from Livingstone airport which has restrictions meaning it is not available all year round.

8. Kamchatka Peninsula, Russia

Heads up guys. This one is definitely only for experienced sky wranglers. You might remember this jump from Valery Rozov’s stunt that was sponsored by Red Bull. If you don’t – here’s a recap – the man wingsuited into a live volcano! You’ll pass a smoking mountain fire hole, but I’m afraid I won’t guarantee it will give you wings.

9. Seville, Spain

Without a doubt one of the best skydiving holiday destinations in Europe. It’s a colossal drop of 15,000 feet for only 205€. A Bargain at 73 feet for every Euro. Or take the budget option of a 10,000 foot skydive for 185€. Be sure to jump early in the morning so you hit the ground in time for the siesta.

10. Wollongong, Sydney, Australia

What is it that really makes a skydiving experience? The view of course. Falling from the sky in Wollongong, your eye follows the fabulous Australian coastline, past the Royal National Park, towards Sydney in the distance. The dropzone is virtually on the beach so keep your eyes peeled for the whales, dolphins and even sharks in the ocean a mile below.
